Ear Jeanette, Do you see Devorah who is the first one on your friends list? If she does not get $567.00 before Monday, her electricity will be turned off. I only have a few dollars, but I asked her for her mailing address so that I could send it to her. If all of us could send her even a little, together we could prevent this terrible thing from happening to her. Could you help her too? Thanks .
Yeshua said; "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." Mat 5:17
He lived the law of His Father. He is the Messiah, and fulfilled all the prophecies given by the Prophets of old, concerning Himself. There seems to be much confusion over the old testament vs. the new, and the law's given by Jesus.
Some of you may be familiar with this scripture from Mat. 22 -
34But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Now you might ask, who were the Pharisees? And the Sadducees?
At the time Jesus Christ walked the earth, the Pharisees were the "conservative party" within Judaism. They held very strictly to the Torah and the Talmud and were very outwardly moral. They were the leaders of the majority of the Jews, mostly the "common people." They were revered by their followers for their religious zeal and dedication, and they were held up as models worthy of imitation. Their main opposition was the party of the Sadducees, who were the "liberal party" within Judaism. The Sadducees were popular among the high-class minority.
Take note of 'who' was doing the questioning here of Jesus - a lawyer, testing (tempting) Christ! Jesus was fully aware that the lawyer was very familiar with the law of God, more than most - He did not have need to explain the law to a lawyer! So He summed up the commandments of His Father into two. The lawyer was fully aware that the first four commandments God wrote were a description of the first law Jesus gave. And he also knew that the keeping of the last six was the law of how to love your neighbor.
So if anyone ever tries to convince you that the 10 commandment law is to be disregarded, that Christ gave us new laws, you know that they have been deceived. Christs' laws regarded the ever governing laws of God. Sin is to go against the all emcompassing 10 commandments. (see 1John 3:4) You can be sure you are doing what Christ said (love God & your neighbour) by being obedient to the Decalogue as shown below. This includes the 4th commandment. If anyone should ever try to talk away the true sabbath day (Saturday, the 7th day), point them to the law of God. It has never changed, and never will.
We read in Mat. 5 -
17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Has ALL been fulfilled? No, there are prophecies that still need to come to pass before the Lord returns for us. Jesus told the truth. May we all believe Him.
"Restore us, O LORD God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved." Psalm 80:19
